It’s that time of year when Thanksgiving is soon to arrive upon us. It is a time of celebration, but so is October. The Lord has blessed us to reap a harvest in our finances, marriages, home lives, knowledge of Him, and in all our ways. We can look back over 2017 and see how God has brought us through many things. As that coveted song “Amazing Grace” says, “Through many dangers, toils, and snares, I have already come/’Tis grace has brought me safe thus far/and grace will lead me home.”
It is my honor to announce that we here at The Essential Church will be celebrating Harvest Sunday on the 5th Sunday in this month, October 29th, at our regular time of 11am EST for worship. The Harvest Sunday service and sermon will be uploaded to our social media networks (Twitter, Google+, Facebook, and Tumblr) at that time.
Some consider Harvest Sunday to be a Sunday that serves as a “Halloween” alternative, but we believe Harvest Sunday should be far different: instead of trying to give people a reason to be distracted from Halloween (which is a celebration of the souls of deceased persons – a practice stemming from Roman Catholicism), Harvest Sunday for us is about celebrating the goodness of God in our lives all year long: in our finances, in the harvest of souls in churches (how God has brought new believers into the fold), how the Lord has blessed us to grow spiritually closer to Him in the Word and prayer, and so on.
Alongside of all these things, we also want to preach a Word into your life. If you’re a believer who is looking back on the year, a year that may have left you unfulfilled, depressed about hopes and dreams that have yet to come to fruition, discouraged about your ministry and calling with little direction on where to go, we want you to know that the Word of God is meant to give us hope and comfort. The Lord has given us a sermon to encourage your hearts, to give you hope, to remind you of the goodness of God and the plans He has for you. Whatever He’s put in your heart, we want to encourage you to keep holding on to God’s unchanging hand, to keep pressing forward even when your life seems like a barren wilderness.
For this uplifting service designed to give thanks to God and to encourage the people of God, we invite you to come and join in with us.
If you want to share with us what God has done in your life this year, and what “harvest” the Lord has wrought in your life, or if you want to partner with us and come join our Bible Study and services, please feel free to contact us at the “Menu” on the main church page (you’ll find the “Contact” page under the Menu selection) or write me at essentialpastor@gmail.com.
We look forward to sharing Harvest Sunday with you. Praise the Lord of the Harvest (Matthew 9:38) for His goodness! We hope to see you there!
